The main cause of pepper seedling failure is the disease, Pythium. This disease attacks young seedlings and causes brownish moist rot in the root system, later causing the plants to die. In order to prevent the damage caused by this disease, we recommend not to over water because excess moisture increases the risk of the plants being infected by the disease. We recommend treatment for preventing the development of the disease in the crop using chemicals for treating Pythium, prior to or after transplanting.
