Realizing the importance of participation in the Ag Expo and vegetable and fruit conferences that were held there, Zeraim Gedera attended the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference which took place last January, in Savannah, Georgia, US.
The conference was a great success with over 2500 attendees (a 30% increase from the previous year (2008) enjoying a variety of exhibits.
As one of 200 exhibitors, Zeraim Gedera's booth had an excellent display. "We had produce such as watermelons, peppers, tomatoes, flown in from Mexico", says Meir Peretz, NAFTA PD Manager, "the Southeast area of the US is considered a large growing region for watermelons and many other crops. This was an opportunity to gain exposure for our name among the customers. Our watermelon variety, Sugar Heart, performs very well in this region and this was a great opportunity to introduce it to potential customers".
We also displayed personal watermelons this year. The crimson sweet type named Petite Crisp which resembles our Super Crisp line and the tiger stripe type named Sugar Bite. The mini watermelons will add a new dimension to Zeraim Gedera product line.
This year we also launched our Plant Sense, this is a new program for ZG . Plant Sense is designed to provide watermelon plants to our customers in the Southeast. We introduced the program in Florida and Georgia. The program has been successful and above our expectations.
This is an exciting time to our loyal customers with the introductions of new watermelon varieties such as Sugar Coat and Sugar Red at the large seedless types and the personal size ones such as the Sugar Bite, Summer Bite and Petite Crisp.
Zeraim Gedera is, among other crops, a watermelon seed company and as such we are able to meet our customers' needs in seeds and watermelon plants.
