Zeraim Gedera Expands Activities in the Specialty Products Market

The Zeraim Gedera Company specializes in breeding hybrid vegetable varieties and the marketing of the variety seeds all over the world. The Company is currently expanding its activities in the field of specialty products and recently, the Company signed an agreement worth $2 million for the supply of cherry tomato seeds to Spanish farmers. The transaction was completed through the Company’s subsidiary in Spain – “Zeraim Ib?rica”. The cherry tomatoes to be grown in Spain are destined for the UK market and leading supermarket chains such as Sainsbury, Marks and Spencer, White Rose, Tesco and more…

Amnon Eshet, Marketing and Sales Manager at Zeraim Gedera said that around the world, seed markets are moving towards the breeding of vegetable varieties that meet the demands made by the supermarket chains and breeders are now required to develop varieties that suit the individual consumer tastes in each market. Tasting tests run by the UK chains among their customers have shown that the UK customers prefer the cherry tomatoes developed by Zeraim Gedera when compared with all other tomatoes.

According to Mr. Eshet, the Company has introduced to the Spanish market, two new cherry tomato varieties with outstanding taste, resistance to disease and high yields that are 25% above the standard varieties available in the world seed market.
