2 July 2007 - Syngenta said it agreed to acquire Israeli vegetable seeds company Zeraim Gedera Ltd from
private equity group Markstone Capital Partners for 95 million dollars (€70 million).
The transaction is expected to close in 2007 pending regulatory approvals,
according to the Swiss speciality chemicals group.
Zeraim Gedera generated $33 million sales (€24 million) in 2006,
focussing on high-value crops, including tomato, pepper and melon.
The deal is aimed at reinforcing the growth and quality of Syngenta's vegetable seeds business.
